heating

The heating on my car is problematic. When I first start the car and say turn on the defroster it will work for like 5 minutes then just stop. The normal heat is not working much at all (although you can feel a slight current of warm air if you place your hang over a vent). Without having looked at it, my brother thinks its probably the fan.

Any thoughts?
