Help with 5HP24A gearbox problems

Hi guys,

I'm in need of some help with my S6. its has the 4.2 V8 and the 5HP24A gearbox. Basically I have just had the box rebuilt, new clutch basket, reconditioned torque convertor. The car is still juddering under light load in 3rd gear, mainly coming out of corners and roundabouts. It doesn't or never has shown any vag-codes regarding the judder. The garage that rebuilt the box said the ECU is sending faulty signals to the solenoid valves. I removed the gearbox ECU last night and it seems dry.

What is next on the check list? I am going to check the readings from the solenoid valves and see if they go outside the 0-2 amp range.

Any one any ideas?

Ooo, that's a tough one - sorry to hear.

Mine going in for same 'ectomy', hope I don't experience similar. Scan'd for codes yest., nada.

Don't have any suggestions for you other than ensure it's not a misfire that feels like trans judder (I like that term btw, it nails what it does). Tho I'd assume 'that' would throw a code you'd be seeing.

While I don't have any ^suggestions^, I really wanted to reply to say... wickedcool car! Awesome color. Never even see pics of them here really, it's like those don't exist 8-).

Do you know what kind of fluid they put in there?

Hmm...!

If you have vag-com you can always test the solenoids and you might hear if one of them sounds different, if one does leave it "clicking" for a while and it might help....
