Default Help! Consistent Codes / CEL

Got the following codes:

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

P1136 - 35-00 - -

17546 - Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (Add): System too Lean

P1138 - 35-00 - -

After reading many threads, we checked the manifold, etc for leaks, found none.

Replaced MAF......

Ideas?

Default it is one of those things that will drive you nuts. Keep checking there is a air leak somplace

It took me forever to find it but it was a leak in the air intake manifold. But there are lots of hoses in the back of that engine too around the TB. check injector o rings and replace, it is cheap to do and knocks one thing out. The air intake manifold gasket is only around$30 or so but lots of stuff to take off.. Not a hard job but you need lots of time to do it..

Those hoses on the back of the IM-- almost a sure thing. There is so much heat and so little airflow back there they just cook.

If you do the IM gasket, do the hoses of course!

Default Possible corrective actions according to the Elsa Manual...

According to the Elsa manual, the fault code
17544 indicates the following possible corrective actions of...
> Perform road test(fuel in engine oil)
> Check fuel pressure regulator and residual pressure
> Check Mass Air Flow(MAF) sensor -G70-
> Check HO2S that's "the letter O"
> Check fuel tank level =>
> Check Evaporative Emissions(EVAP) canister purge regulator valve

Default Get some Carb/Choke cleaner and start spraying intake and vacuum hoses with engine at idle

when the idle changes, you've found your leak...

Default it's probably the Breather Hoses in the back of the engine compartment..

they are probably melted quite abit, kinda of like butter melting.

Andy,

I've had the same two codes for the past 8 months and I still can't find the source. I've checked all the hoses at least 3 times. Changed the fuel filter, the air filter and the MAF. Cleaned the ICV and still can't find it.

I think my next stop is the injector o rings. If you have any luck finding your source, please let me know.

Default Those were add not mult codes -- it's getting enough fuel under load

A vacuum leak is most likely.
