Lost Reverse
This morning my tranny wouldn't go into reverse, it indicates reverse, but would not engage. Would rev like in neutral, but not go into limp mode.
Later in the morning I could feel the clutch grabbing just a little, but the engine would rev, and it did push the car in reverse, but next time, nothing.
So I take it the Clutch F seal is probably gone....
Odd that I can rev the engine to 4,000 RPM in reverse, but it won't go into limp mode.

... actually, I think it's referred to as the "f-ing" seal. You might try this guy in Los Angeles for an S8. He specializes in A6's & 8's and now does a lot of "S" cars. It's called California Motorcars, the guy is Robert Blum and the no. is 800-444-2834. Not an endorsement, but I bought my A8 from him a few years ago and found him to be a pretty straight-up dude... for a car salesman. Take the kids to Dinney-lan and buy an S8.

Well, you have been saying for ahile the tranny has been hunting, it seems yours is just taking a bit longer to dump the F housing than most. Sorry to hear about that bud! At least this is now your opportunity to either repair it or get that S8 you have been waiting so patiently for... I am betting you repair the current baby since it will really hurt the resale value if you don't before you sell it... Good luck man! I feel you pain!

First, I need a car, and need it ASAP.
Secondly, my buddy Gabor has made a great proposition to me.
I guess it doesn't hurt to know somebody who has two cores.
I'm going out of town next week, hopefully it will be up and running within the following week.
I will keep you updated.
If my car stops hunting and thumping, I might fall in love again!
But a man needs a new car every five years at least......and it will be five years in about 6 weeks!

And I remember when you bought it, we have changed e-mails back then, I was in Quad Cities, you were gonna give me and my wife a ride with your boat ( w/o Audi talking )...never happen, tough...still on for it ?
