memory switch - backlight fix
Not the most pressing issue, but everytime I got in my wife's car in the dark, I couldn't see the seat memory buttons because the backlighting was out.
I took it apart and there are 2 LEDS and a small 12v bulb. If the red on/off switch is lit up but you can't see any of the other buttons, the bulb is burned out. The "On/off" switch is illuminated by the LEDS and don't seem to be a problem.
The whole assembly comes out by unscrewing a phillips screw inside the door pocket and then you can lift the whole thing out and fix it on the bench.
The switch itself prys apart by pushing in a couple of tabs. It's a little tricky but you'll get it. Desolder the old bulb and use the Radioshack bulb as a replacement. You'll need to cut about 1/2 of each leg so it doesn't sit too high. You'll also need to make the hole in the rubber piece slightly larger so the bulb will fit.
The switch illuminates with the ignition key in the forward position, there's no tie to the headlight/dash lights being on/off.
Bob
I had an ashtray light in the rear that really bothered me as my son kept reminding me about it.
