o2 Sensor replacement
So i am probably going to replace my pre-cat O2 sensors this winter and was wondering what the best recomendations are to do this procedure? Should i use the OEM Bosch ones or the Bosch Universals that you have to splice? is there a writeup on how to remove and replace them available somewhere? I heard the passenger side is a pain but when i had my throttle body off i could easily see the sensor...didnt look that hard to get to with a long socket extension...anyway, any help would be appreciated.

On a pre-facelift they are not difficult to get to with a decent toolbox. Make sure you have the
correct socket with the cutout for the wires. If you are good at making weatherproof in-line splices, you can save a considerable amount of $$ using the generic 4-wire Bosch sensors and splicing the old connector on to them.

is this something that needs to be done on the car or can you disconnect it all and do it ...
on the workbench? i would think that doing the splice would be pretty easy on the bench but on the car would be a nightmare i would guess. Anyone have a picture of where they are located?

You do the splice on the work bench
You don't need to do waterproof splices, the generic bosch kit has this big box looking thing that the splice sits in.....unlike the old sensors that you had to physically splice. The new ones are a crimp conneciton.
