Oil level sensor

Oil level sensor
A quick question.
My cluster tells me that my oil level is low. Now when checking thismanually using the dipstick there is more than sufficient oil in the engine. I have read the error codes to see if there is something popping up, but no errors where showing.
Now my questions are:
1- If the sensor is default, should it pop up in the error list when reading the ECU?
2- If it should register a faulty sensor, coult it be in the wiring, or maybe could it be anything inbetween, like a fuse or relay??
