Default Question.
I have a complete ZF Transmission repair manual and it says up to transmission no. 7903, the oil pump unit must be replaced. ( see ELCAT ) Does anyone know what year is it?

The book also says " The transmission is filled with long-life oil. The oil does not have to be changed until it has been in use for ten years." No miles specified.

Default OK. Everybody reading nobody writing?
Looks from this number, it affect the early A8 97' maybe 98'. The book explains the rebuild procedure, but if it is older than the number 7903 do not rebuild the pump just replace it. They are very quiet about why. Does that means that there was a problem with the pumps ( low pressure at idle and low rpm possible causing hunting and high wear on clutches) but they never recalled it because of the high labor costs. To replace the pump, you need to remove the tranny 15 book hours. The first time I removed the tranny with my transmission buddy, it took us 8 hours, the second time it took 5 hours. I took out the valve body ...... I don't even know how many times, at least 15 times. I have over 200 pictures from my tranny.

Default is this the serial number?? if so mine is 2000
also are there procedures in there to show how to replace? Wonder if this s recall or service bulletin..

It should be a recall, because ZF says replace it not to rebuid it.
