HID comparison... 5300k vs 8000k

Yesterday i replaced my 8000k HID bulbs with a set of 5300k's. My bulbs finally went after 5 years. I had these HID's in my old car as well so im impressed with their lifespan. But holy cow, the light difference of the 5300k's are insane. Much brighter than my 8000k when they were new. The pure white light does not fade off like the blue light does. I actually had to adjust my headlights down slightly so i do not offend/blind oncomming drivers.
Also, the quality of the new ballasts are very well designed also. I purchased the kit on ebay. The maker is McCulloch. total cost approx $300.00
Ill post a pic of the 5300k later today.

Yep.
As predicted by the FAQ.
"Going upwards from 4100K means that your light turns blue at the expense of total brightness and yellow color. Theoretically, if the same brightness were to be kept, you would have to increase the wattage of the bulb from 35 to maybe 40W, and redesign the ballast. This would be a very costly solution, so thats pretty much why all automotive HID bulbs are 35W."
There's a graph somewhere that shows this really well.

Automotive lighting FAQ - Headlamp HID bulbs
