Reprogram keys and remote
Hi, everyone
Mine is 1997 Audi A8 3.7 FWD with AEW engine. I am currently abroad and there are no dealerships for old Audis here. Therefore, I need to solve the key problem with it. When I bought it it had only one and no remote inside. So just a key.
This is the old key
Here is what I want to do:
1. Cut a new one with remote inside
2. program the remote keyless fob
3. set up bypass transponder system so that to use the new key
new and old
I would appreciate your help and suggestions how to accomplish all this.
Thanks a lot

You'll need 2 keys to reprogram the FOB, one to turn on the ignition and leave it on and one to lock and unlock the door while programming. You may try to use the blank key to turn on the ignition with 1 original key close by and use it to lock and unlock the door. Never tried it but it should work. If the blank key works, then just buy 2 fobs with blank keys, leave the original one in the car and use the blanks to operate the car, may be cheaper that way. Yes, it's easy for the car thief but who knows.

You could try to get a key blade made from a photo of the old key
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Ersatz-S...A/122707346498
and exchange the blade on the flip key
The remote can be programmed like that:
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a8-...ogram-1756280/
If you have the Immobilizer 1 PIN (under the black scratch field on the key tags)
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/images/key_tags.jpg
the immobilizer can be programmed using tools like VCDS, Carport Diagnostics Pro or OBDeleven Pro.
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_I_Key_Matching
if there is a ID48 chip inside of the remote.
Otherwise the Immo1 PIN has to be extracted from the EEPROM of the immobilizer.
