S6 vs. S8? I have Decided!
At the end of the day, the only two reasons to get an S6 would be the growl and the cost difference ($56K vs. $73K loaded). But the S8 is by far the better looking car from both the inside and outside (black with caramel). It's also faster, and besides, I already have an A6 Avant in the garage. Besides, the idea of having the flagship Audi is appealing. I also like the exclusivity factor of a limited production car. I have not seen a single S8 here in the Boston area, and only a handful of A8's (and they are nice looking if not dramatic). I also get an $800 loyalty discount (plus $4K off the sticker).
The only thing that bothers me a bit is the new A8 model coming out next year. However, the new S8 won't be out for another 1 1/2 years after the A8 I am told. Plus, if it's a W12 doing 500 hp (as I have read), it's going to cost a lot more than the low $70's! The new A8 will have 20 more hp than the old, but it still won't have the sport suspension. So maybe this will be the last chance to get in an S8.
Haven't signed on the dotted line yet, so I can still change my mind, but it looks like I am taking the leap from the 6 to the 8!
I've only seen three other S8's.
Two were at Mid-Ohio of all places, one on the track and the other in the parking lot during the SCCA RunOffs. I saw the 3rd one in downtown Tokyo, where driving an S8 must be rather frustrating.
and Congratulation!

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
Asked the dealer what their rate was, they gave me 6.9% then finally gave me 5.9% when it was obvious that I wasn't just another dumbie (man, I fooled them!).
I called AoA, they switched me to 100 different phone numbers to get to the right person regarding special finace rates and they said I had to go to the dealer to get the rate.
In the end, my girlfriend paid 5.9% (versus the 4.9% advertised) cause the dealer said they had to make some money. I don't know, all I know is that she saved TONS of money by buying outright versus that damn "prestige purchase" or a lease. The guy tried to talk us into one of those two options because "the cost of money is so low now", which translates into you'll pay a lot of finance charges and not own anything at the end.
However, there is a time and place for leases and prestige purchases, just not a good thing for my girlfriend buying a A4 outright.
