Default S8 performance modifications?

I have the oppotunity to purchase a very nice S8 at an attractive price. I have driven it, I like it, I want to make it faster. I have clicked on several of the advertisers banners looking for performance modificaions for the S8. The car has the 100,000 mile Audi warranty and I do not want to void it. so I am not interested in adding turbo or super chargers.
What intake/exhaust/chip type of upgrades are avaialable in the Midwest (Illinois)? Are there any shops willing to install these items?
I am new to these forums so please do not flame me with "Look at post #3333333 you idiot"

Thanks

Hi GregoG'
Write to me @ suratsiz@aol.com I will give you many months of search, experiment, names, addresses which will take you long to find out. I am not interested in superchargers either. They are enormous money for a chance to get -1- sec. on the 0-60 w/the risk of blowing the engine every month.

You'll be hard pressed to find anything worth the while. I did install a performance exhaust on my 2001 S8 and was not impressed with the performance increase, if any. I did get an increase in noise that I found to be droning when driving around the city but the noise was almost zero on the highway above 65 MPH. There has been talk for years about a supercharger but this will never happen since the S8 is such a low volume car. One technique I used was to lower the weight. Every 100 LSB is 10 HP. I managed to dump 150 Lbs by installing a compact spare, smaller battery and lighter exhaust system. Todays normally aspirated performance cars are chipped from the factory so you won't get much increase from a performance chip. Audi manages to get 85 HP per liter from the S8 engine. That doesn't leave much room for improvement. For comparison, the 2002 Porsche 911 makes 88 HP per liter but has a more sophisticated valve timing system. You would need to get 90 to 95 HP per liter from the S8 to notice a difference in this 4000 Lbs car. With out some major engine work it's just a dream.

Default I guess you could make an S8 faster with ...

.
an MTM chip that removes the 155 mph speed limiter (and not much else); but I don't think that's what Greg had in mind, and it wouldn't be particularly useful in Illinois.

Agree that weight reduction is probably the best way to go.

BTW, I believe Stasis Engineering can replace the S8's rotors both front and rear with 2-piece rotors with aluminum hats (same diameter rotors as original and using the original calipers). I believe the weight savings are about 12 lb per corner in the front and 10 lb per corner in rear, another 44 lb of unsprung and rotating weight. When I went from the 345x30 mm to the 355x32 mm 2-piece Alcon rotor, I lost 10 in each rotor.

Never fill the gas tank up past a QTR of a TANK. I've noticed a distinct difference in handling between full tank and a QTR. How much weight did I add when I switched to full spare ( same allum rim though, I had put a small ding in one rim, now my spare, & bought a new one for the road ) vs a "gimp" spare tire.
