S8 tranny soft code
Just an update. I tried to change the tranny soft code today from the 00102 to 00132, to see if it responded the way the 00002 to 00032 change affects the A8/A6/S4.
It will not take the change. I entered it a couple more times after the first time I noticed it didnt change. No effect. I know I can change codes, I did an S4 Thursday night.

Does your shifter have the "S" option?
On the new cars, at least the 2002 allroad and 2002 A4, there is [P R N D (push over to tip) S].
If this is the case, maybe the software gets changed by the position of the switches (i.e. being in drive, sport or tip), and then it changes the coding. Maybe that's why it's 00102, they are using a different didget (binary number, I know that's your thing) for the newer trannies?
What do you think?

It does have the PRND32. The shifter is moved to the right from D and you then have the +/- gate there as well as the buttons on the wheel.
