Serious problem with A8, please help!!!
I have a quite big problem with my A8 and I would be very happy if someone could give me any hints on that.
The car is 1996 A8 running 3,7 nonquattro.
The problem is quite weird. When I drive faster than 55mph and then de-accelerate quickly, my engine stops. I first thought it was something to do with breaks and breaking, but when I tested the speed drop without even touching the break pedal, the same thing occured. Then I switched to tiptronic and tried it with different gears. At first it seemed, that the problem came out only with 5th gear, but after many attempts sometimes it happend with 4th and very rarely even with 3rd gear. One weird thing is that when drivin in town, none of this happens. It seems that the problem occures when de-accelerating very quickly (rpm drop very fast). When I keep rpm (using tiptronic) above 2000rpm, none of this happens. The other thing I noticed is that (when de-accelerating) and the rpm drops near 1000rpm it starts to bounce beteen 200 and 1000rpm until the car is absolutely still.
Can anybody quess what could be the problem?
I would appreciate it very much...
Thank you,
Vaix
Did you hook up vag-com to it to see if it has thrown any codes?
Car was stalling at low rpms with the A/C running.
One can be seen on the picture I added...
Now engine works like a charm,
thanks again
