Trans coding problems
What am I missing?<ul><li><a href="http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/auto_transmission/codingtransmission.html">http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/auto_transmission/codingtransmission.html</a</li></ul>
The G195 sensor had a drity plug, once that was clean I checked the trans fluid.
Observations: the Trans needs to be 30 degrees C when checking. Yesterday it was 71F here, and I could not get it cool enough (It was still 58C after sitting overnight. We had a cold snap last night and snow. VAG told me this AM that the trans temp was 32C. I checked the level, and it took .75 liters. Out of the total 10.2 liters (IIRC) that is a very small % level low.
Further oberservations- In the South, except for in the dead of winter, there is NO WAY that you could get the tranny cold enough to properly refill the trans!! This (I'm speculating) might be why so many ppl have had failures after fluid changes. That fluid expands TREMENDOUSLY with heat! (Conversely, its contractions in cold were enough to suck the sides of the bottle in over night.) Unless you have a very cold ambient temp, you just arent going to get enough fluid back in the trans.
Thankfully I'm back to the "No Hunt, No Thump" at 154,000 miles. Been coded to 00011 since 93,000.
Cheers to all of you for your help!
