The wrong transmission!!!!!
Hello to all, first time on here so be gentle!
Recently bought a beautifull black 4.2 sport 1997 model tiptronic with 92,000 miles.
First job was to take it to local audi centre and have atf filter and fluid changed, when i went to pick it up the guy said you have an almost new gearbox fitted wow! i thought, previous owner was a company and didnt keep good records!
Unfortunately it has the wrong gearbox!!!
the plate says ECY which apparently is from an s8, operation is silky smooth and no noises except when it gets to temperature, when i engage drive the idle speed rises and thumps into gear!! the other thing is a vibration/shudder through the seats when accelerating, can anyone please help????
have had it checked twice with diagnostics and zero faults recorded.
low atf pressure? atf temp too high?

cant say for sure, audi changed fluid twice (first time pissed oil everywhere cheers "experts"!) .That's the only thing i dont like about my new car -- no dipstick!!! why on such an excellent car is there not one?

UK car - probably not a problem, US car - big problem
The US cars came with higher final drives than the S8's, but all other A8/S8's world wide came with the same lower final drive.
