07 s8 problems
Anyone have problems with starting the car and after it starts it shuts off by itself after a few seconds. Mine kept doing it so I let it sit for a couple hours and now its back to normal like it fixed itself.

Nothing like that. Have you pulled the error codes ising VAG?
Mine threw a fault last week and showed the "check engine" indicator.
VAG indicated a high pressure level was exceeded on the LP fuel line. I suspect some dirt or moisture in the fuel. On clearing out the codes the warning is gone. However the car never behaved abnormally and the fault has not returned.

It's TSB day...
There is a TSB covering many 2007 FSI Audi's, including the S8 and 4.2 A8. It provides for a software update to the ECU. They said it did not relate to drivability concerns. My memory of the grapevine complaints was this may have had its origins in the rougher start up sound of the early FSI's.
TSB is 01 07 18 2013535/7 [an unusually long TSB number] dated 8/29/07. VIN range for the S8 is 004243 - 014023 and for the 4.2 is 000292 - 014126. W12's don't use FSI so wouldn't logically be affected.
If you haven't been in for a software update and you are in the VIN range, you might want to get that done.
Separately by the way, there is a TSB for 3.2 FSI's that does talk about stalling problems, but it doesn't include the V8's.
