ABS Module replacement

Lately I have been getting the standard Christmas tree light show on my dash when there is a problem with the ABS Control module. Fortunately, a few years back I swapped a used ABS module and still have the original module sitting in my garage. I took the original ABS module to a shop that said they can repair the module (for $300) and I could just swap the repaired module in without much trouble coding etc.

I thought that it might be a good idea to check with some of the folks here to see if there is anything special that I need to do before doing the swap... or anything that needs to be done during the swap? Note I'm not going to change the pump, just the module.

Since you already did a swap of the module a few years back, you already know all that is required to do this..

I was not present when my mechanic did the swap a few years back. I use a different mechanic now.

You said YOU did the swap a few years ago. Now I see the story has changed. If your new mechanic is qualified, he or she will know what to do. These Bosch ABS modules are not coded to a vin or other module on the car. They are coded to communicate with the specific vehicle powertrain ECU's for Stability control.

Very unlikely to have 2 abs module failures within the life of the car. Far more likely is the insulation breaking down on the first foot or so of the wiring loom that connects to the abs module. Check that first before going any further.
