Anyone coded their keys for remote window opening etc?
I coded my previous A4 and S4 for opening closing windows, sunroof, etc with the remote pretty easily with my VAG-COM. Seems to be much more complicated with the A8, maybe because of the MMI. Anyone been successful doing it??

Yes, it's done thru VAG-COM too
very similarly. You can find the additive codes via the Ross-tech site in the wiki.
I coded mine for remote windows down and up both, sunroof close only (not open, which is an option), and no chirp on locking.

Is locking by pressing the button the door the same as using the remote??
...I almost never use the key for anything. Do you know (or does anyone know) if changes made as described above would work in my case?

Two different approaches as far as I know, as you prefer
1. Use the remote key and reprogram via VAG-COM to allow opening or closing of windows or sunroof. You can pick: open only, close only, both, and either or both of windows and sunroof.
2. Without the remote being pushed, use existing car functionality. As far as I know, you can't get there with the outer door handle buttons. But, if you open the door with key in pocket or nearby, you can roll down all the windows just by holding down the drivers window button on the inside door panel. Or, you can roll them all up by pulling up and holding. It will also close the sunroof when you roll up the windows, but won't open it when you roll them down, even if the sunroof dial is still in the open position (from having overriden it by using the remote lock approach or the hold drivers window switch up approach).
Thus, while standing at the vehicle w/ drivers door open you can do it and keep key in pocket. Or, walk away and use the remote buttons after VAG-COM reprogramming.
