cold start sputter problem
Video is on a6 but i am having the same issue with D3 A8. Skip the video to 45 seconds please and watch it for the next 10 to 15 seconds
i have browsed through form and looked at potential causes ranging from the fuel filter, fuel pump but unable to convince myself that that is the root cause. I had similar issues with my Jeep and in that case root cause was Crankshaft position sensor but when i run the VAG it does not throw 1340 error code. The three error codes i do get are listed below. Any and all recommendations and guidance is greatly appreciated.
17579 - Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Actuator (G188) Implausible Signal
01826 - Sensor for Steering Angle (G85); Supply Voltage Terminal 30
000 - - - Intermittent
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30
01314 - Engine Control Module
Meantime, quite a few posts from folks over the years saying their crank sensor did not throw any codes. Some do, others don't. Same scenario w/ fuel pumps. You also don't mention year (port vs. FSI) so not sure whether you also have an FSI HPFP.

If no joy there, then my focus would be on the error you have for throttle position. Try going through the throttle re-alignment process. If the throttle plate is not in the correct position, then the air/fuel mix will be all over the place and it won't run. You won't get a lean error because at startup the ECU is in open loop so isn't monitoring mixture.

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
Looks like you have a bad battery too and need to replace it. A8's don't play nice with a bad battery and throw all sorts of random electrical errors that can lead you on a real wild goose chase.
