Default Custom steering wheel is on!

After a hectic work schedule this past month, I managed to budget a couple of hours to paint match and install my custom steering wheel I had customized by craftcustoms in TX. I wanted my new steering wheel on before I made the long drive from San Francisco back to the LA area. I've been on extended work duty in the bay since december and i've hardly driven my car while I was up here, so I was itching for a good drive. I decided to take the long route, and took the CA 1 or PCH from Pebble Beach to San Luis Obispo, and what a beautiful ride it was. I was amazed to see how many beautiful exotic sports cars would zoom right past you on such a long twisted desolate road. At one point I recall seeing a long convoy of modded S2000's down the winding cliff roads. Overall my car handled well taking those curves and a few times fell kinda funny (G-forces I bet), while taking those curves at speeds much higher than the signs posted. Even though my aftermarket set up is mostly for looks, it handled quite well, much better than my stock 18" setup running bridgestone potenza's. I would often start screeching my 18" wheels/tires just exiting curved offramps around 40mph in LA and would drive me nuts. Now, I know my aftermarket set up is not optimal for nose heavy blah blah... my post is just to share and awesome experience and not ignite a war on how and what tire/wheel combo is best on paper.

PS: What do you guys use to upload pictures? I upload my pics from my iphone (I know, not the best quality to begin with) to photobucket, but notice the quality is greatly diminished after uploading to photobucket and posted here.

I had to color match the rear airbag housing since the core wheel was black. The screw cover is from the old wheel coming off. Color match was about a 90% i'd say, but overall good enough.

Wheel installed. Paddle shift extenders are the clip/stick on type from ebay ($30). Still need to code the shifters.

Another shot of the wheel installed.

Your steering wheel looks fantastic, could you please be more detailed about what you have done.

That looks excellent!!! Did you run into anything unexpected or rough with the steering wheel removal and installation? I got my car back from the body shop on Saturday and am going to install my custom steering wheel in the next couple of days. I have to put on my matte aluminum mirror bodies, too.

Thanks!

Joe

Looks good! Who did the work on the wheel for you? Also what is your current wheel/tire setup? It looks good, any other pics?

I bought a used steering wheel (black in color) with paddle shifters from ebay. I had it re-wrapped in matching leather, and added the piano black trim. I also added the upper set of ergonomic grips you see at the top.

Excellent job. That puts the interior "over the top" and is a great look in the already exquisite interior.
