Default Finally pulled the trigger

I just purchased a used A8L - 2008 - with 59k miles. I have only had it for a week, but I am so impressed with this vehicle. I am sure the new ones are great, but I can't imagine why you would spend all that money on new, when you can get a great used car at a fraction of the cost on new.

Welcome to the club, post pictures please and I agree with you. The grin on my face and the joy I get from my D3 is priceless.

Glad to hear you like yours. I'm on the verge of purchasing a 2008 A8L with 66k miles on Friday for the local dealership. Having trouble making the decision. Concerned about repair costs.

Plus someone is due to buy my A6 4.2L tomorrow but the check engine light just went on!

Acaman, followed your lead and pulled the trigger on the 2008 A8L. Was able to sell my A6 to a private party and buy the A8L from the local dealership all in one night. Am incredibly impressed with the A8. Seems a lot has changed with Audi between 03 and 08. The car is a monster and loaded with tech. It's almost too nice...feeling self-conscious driving it. I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly. Have a few repairs to do, mainly rotors, but so far couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.

Acaman, if you remember, keep me informed about your experience and I'll do the same.

Happy Thanksgving! Lots to be thankful for.

Well I took mine to the dealership to have the 55k service done and 2 new tires. I get a call that the front brakes and rotors need replaced and the water pump also needs replaced. I immediately get a sick feeling in my stomach - total cost of those two was going to be $ 2,100. I call the guy I purchased the car from(he bought it from the dealership - he tells me he does about $8,000,000 dollars of business a year with this dealership - seems high to me, but who knows) - anyhow, he said don't worry the dealership is going to take care of the repairs. I don't feel as sick now, but it sure tells me that this car is going to be expensive to maintain/repair. I will add, I absolutely love this car. It is a very impressive vehicle.

I will post some pics soon.

If you intend on taking the car to the dealer every time for a minor/major occurrence, get your wallet ready!! If you are somewhat car repair inclined and have a Ross-tech VAG COM you will save thousands of dollars every year. For the more time consuming or major repair stuff, just find a indy mechanic that knows how to work on audis. Just browse this forum all the time its the #1 info tool you will need to diagnose and fix any issues you may have with the car. But yea, i think speak for all of us here when i say you need to buy a VAG-COM

Yes. Exactly what he said !

I haven't touched a wrench in almost 30 years and VCDS is still invaluable.

At time of purchase, local dealership said rotors had to be replaced ("front rotors = below spec/grooved spec:32mm; act:30.89mm / rear rotors = below low spec/grooved spec:20mm; act:20.34mm).

Dealership quoted:
Front: $754 = 2.0 hrs labor w/ parts
Rear: $637 = 2.5 hrs labor w/ parts
TOTAL = $1491

Passed on dealer.

Took A8 to local import shop that quoted $750 to replace all 4 rotors using OEM Zimmerman parts.

Currently enjoying getting to know the new ride and all the tech. Curious about whether should/can upgrade the MMI as well as the Nav DVD. Also, thinking about adding tint. Going to search this amazing forum for guidance, but grateful for any opinions or links in the right direction.

Bought it off lot before the dealership took pro photos.
