Default Folding Mirror Fuse and removal

Hi Everyone,

Just wodered if anyone could tell me where the fuses for the folding mirrors are located or which fuse they are wired into? I have found the fuse boxes on the passenger and drivers side dash end but there is no listing for the mirrors. I've also found the fuse boxes in the rear Nav compartment and above the battery and have checked them all since there is no listing to say what they are.

My folding mirror no longer folds so I'm assuming the motor has gone (v.annoying since it happened 2 weeks out of warranty!), although would be nice if it was the fuse if only I coud find it!

I've lived with it up to now but thought I'd have a go and see if I can fix it or replace it myself so any hints or tips on removing the mirror housing/motor itself would also be appreciated I've got so far but am now stuck, do I need to take the circlip off and remove the large spring - looks as if it will be v.hard to replace so havent done it yet.

Oh its a 2005 D3 A8 RHD 3.0 TDi, any help or comments much appreciated

Many Thanks
Jaime

I have a 04 A8L and never knew it had folding mirrors (bought 13 months ago), but mine dont seem to work either. I followed the instructions in the manual and rotated the **** in the 6 o'clock position and push the **** down. Nothing. Are they supposed to fold automatically when parked?

They only fold when you put the **** in the six o' clock position, no pushing down on it needed at all. Mine works, I only use it if I park in a parking lot where people will be walking alot between the cars or if it's a real tight squeeze which i almost always avoid.

I just know me putting them up one day is going to attract some teenage moron to pay extra attention to them and mess with it.

Sorry to hear that man, maybe the motor just wore out. Hopefully if your not under warranty it's not too much. But to be honest it's not like it has to be fixed anyway. It's not a major function nor does it help too much. Just another thing to break in the future.

I turned the **** just for the heck of this morning and what do you know; a nice mechanical sound from the folding mirrors was heard. Great. I guess they do work after all.
Can't wait to try the adjustable sun roof wind deflector. Hopefully my 04 has that feature as well.

My switch is kind of fussy. Works great for right vs. left adjustment. However, the fold up (and unfold) works about 50% of the time. I just move the switch to another position and then back and it usually works.
