LED problem
Hello All,
This is my first post, I just bought a 2005 Audi A8 3.0tdi Quattro, I just love the car it's great.
But I found my first problem (i think), on the out side handles I have 2 white led's per handle, the thing is only the rear light up... neither the front right or left light up.. cand anyone tell me is there a setting that I missed on the mmi or is there a problem with the door LEDs?

I have the same symptom. And same number of posts.
I bought 2006 A8L 3.0tdi about one month ago (it has 125000km in clock) and the other LED on driver door handle lights up only occasionally.
I wonder if the LEDs are part of the door handle assembly or separate piece? And is it possible to change it/them from outside or do I have to open the door lining? Just ordered (but not yet received) Bentley repair manual, maybe it will tell?

Not aware of a setting for front vs. rear.
On the fronts, much more light is actually generated from the "puddle" lights under the mirrors that light the ground around the front doors.
I think the things you see that project the light are acually pieces of plastic that act like a light fiber, and that the LED is deeper in the door handle. I notice that piece of plastic can get some wax or other stuff on it; might affect performance.
I suspect if it's broken the only fix is to replace whole handle, which also requires body paint matching. That's what they did on my driver's door when the keyless entry pushbutton used to lock it was diagnosed as faulty.

In here door handle lights and the lights under the mirrors are so called Exterior Light Package -option. That faulty LED is not dim, it's either on or off. Maybe our harsh climate, snow, salt or +/-30C temperature changes have broken the LED, the connector or something.
If the handle is relative easy to take out I will do so and check if there is bad solder or loose connector or if it is possible to dismantle it and take the LED part from used or spare handle to avoid paint job. If not, I will leave it, can live with only one LED working.
Otherwise the car feels great. I have been driven Audi since 1990 (80, 80, A4, A6, A6q, A4q) and this is best this far, the ride is so smooth, quiet and relaxing.

Just found the solution to our problem if the exterior mirrors are folded up, neither the led lights in the mirror light up nor do the ones in the handles. If you leave the mirrors unfolded everything lights up (the mirrors as well as the leds in the handles)
Problem solved.
