metric-us conversion
We just brought our '07 home, and my wife and I love it! Only hitch is, it was a Canadian car. The speedo has only km, which surprises me cause our older Maxima has both. I've heard there may be a decal that can just go on the surface of the glass for the conversion? Also, the economy (mpg) readout is only reading in metric. Cruise and average speed are in US format. I assume a dealer can go into the computer and fix this problem maybe. Anybody ever encounter this?

Check MMI 'setup'
You should be able to select 'units' under the overall MMI setup page, and there you'll be able to select MPG or 'chickens per fortnight' or whatever you like... PM me if you get stuck and I'll walk you through...

Interesting...
I just changed my dash setting to 'ROW' meaning Rest of World using VCDS (the Ross-Tech diagnostic software www.ross-tech.com). The main reason for me was to cause the halogen 'passing' headlights to come on as the high beams, instead of the hopeless xenon lights. There was some suggestion that this action would change the consumption to l/100km but it had no effect. Maybe post a similar thread in the 'VCDS' or 'Vag-Com' forum for a definitive answer, after having searched on here thoroughly first of course....

I think you are correct K9 - the cluster needs to be changed to US.
When I changed mine some things went Metric and some did not.
IIRC there are individual setting for consumption and distance in MMI.
Also think this is dependent on MMI version as Misha did not get the same results I did and mine was quite a bit downlevel.

Either buy, or find someone with VCDS locally....

my local 'European Import specialist' had never heard of my Lotus, so good luck! Your guy may not have VCDS (the Ross Tech software) but may have a similar system. My advice, either buy, or recommend he buys, the Ross Tech stuff...

Well we stumbled onto the digital speedo on the dash yesterday (still pretty green here), and IT is in mph. So we don't have to do conversions for that anymore, though I'd still like a decal for the analog. Just converting mpg now.
