MMI Screen Change
Hello, I am having the mmi unit changed on my 07 a8 l on Thursday by the dealer. They said one of the gears were broke. which made the unit click going up or down. They are changing the whole unit with screen too. Now will I lose all my stored names and number and navi info. Also will they have too upgrade the unit or not. Will things stay the same as before or be different.

The gear is available here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-A8-S8-2004-2010-MMI-Display-Gear-/330891864624?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0ab12a30&vxp=mtr if you feel you can do it yourself, also there are instructions on this site to complete repair, also I do not believe just removing and replacing the MMI screen would loose any info, the MMI control head in not being changed.

Hello,I just had my mmi screen mounting bracket replaced by the dealer two days ago. Now it is doing the same thing. Clicking when it's going up and in like the gear is broken again. Why do you guys think it's broke again if they just changed it. The screen maybe went in and out ten times. Do you think they just fixed the old one. Why would a brand new mmi screen from the dealer brake in two days just sitting in my driveway.

So should I say something like where is the old part. Or i would like to see the new part that is in my car when the dash board is open. I just can't believe a new part would brake from going up and down ten times.
