MMI Screen Gears for 2006 Audi A8
Is there anyone or anywhere in the USA where I can obtain the replacement gears for the MMI Screen for a 2006 Audi A8? The dealer doesn't sell these seperate and they want a $500 for a whole new assembly.

The others are from Hungary and Slovakia and are selling the "complete set" of gears for $100.00.
I am trying to find someone who has these gears in the USA.
The dealers wants $480 for a new assembly.

Did anyone order gears from the Hungarians or Slovakians? Are they scams or was the product satisfactory?

There is guy from NY on e-bay he will send you the instructions for the MMI removal then you need to send the assembly to him in order to be completely fixed, apparently he's got very good feedback,you can check e-bay for "Audi MMI screen gear replacement"

The guys who sells the metal gears doesn't sell the other plastic gears I need. I think that if you put the metal gear in there it would destroy all the gears it touches.
I think what causes the gears to be destroyed is someone pushing down on the screen. Metal gears when they become jammed would end up destroying the little electric motor that drives them. Better to have plastic gears and have the gears destroyed then other more expensive components.
But at $100 for 3 gears this is costly. How much should these 3 little gears cost? $15? What a rip off.
