Need help with electronics bug
I have an early vin 2004 A8L, second owner. About 46K miles. I have has it since October and really no issues except a nagging comfort and convenience issue which has been brought to the dealer's attention more than 3-4 occassions.
It is like a gremlin, it comes and goes.
When I lock the car, it does not arm on the initial press of the keyfob--instead it sounds the alarm. I need to keep pressing the keyfob open and close (anywhere from one cycle till 3-4 cycles to get it to shut up, beep and arm). It is more3 problematic after driving it for more than 10-15 mins. When I drive it for 10 mins and lock the car, it works fine. Also, when it is armed and I open the trunk and close the trunk afterwards, the alarm goes off--need to open the car with keyfob and relock it again.
Dealer cant figure it out, back in this Friday. He made a comment like , there is no way we are ripping the car apart and putting in a whole new comfort and convenience package. Its under warranty till June. What should I do?

Have you tried the other key fob? You should have 2.
You said that the dealer mad a comment "like"? What did he actually say? The warranty will cover YOU but it sounds as though the dealer is worried that HIS time wont be fairly compensated for by Audi. No big surprise! You need to drop off the car to the dealer and tell him that youll pick it up when it is repaired. Be nice but be firm. Of course, this assumes that the second fob acts the same way as the primary fob acts.

Thanks a million. Both keyfobs have issues.
I spoke to the Customer A8L advocate and he is on it like white on rice. He vows that the problem will be handled and he is contacting my dealer today to make sure all hands are on deck. Audi NA will be involved to end my problems, we hope.

I'm having problems with my FOBs too. Mine are buring through batteries like crazy (every 2 weeks). The dealership said something about a cracked module which will be replaced at the end of next week.

MY ISSUE GOES BEYOND THE FOBS, it also occurs when I try locking the door with the physical key behind the door handle. So it is definitely an electronics issue, and it comes and goes. More often it is around.

I know my car is an old thurd, but.....
there is a 10 minutes delay built into the accessory circuit. Example you turn off the ignition, remove the key but remain in the car without opening any doors you can open the windows or the sunroof without the key for 10 minutes. Opening the door will cancel this feature. In my car the controller is built into the power door lock/unlock pump housing. When I remove the key this controller will lit up the window switch illumination (so I can roll up the windows in dark) but it has to shut off after 10 min or if I open the door. Well last year it switched on the illum. lights and never shut off. I would find the controller and unplug it for a few minutes. I did mine and it forgot it's bad habit. I hope this helps to find solution for your problem.

Is the car shaking or parked on a steep angle?
Try pressing the shake-A-matic bypass on the drivers door edge every time you park before setting. Maybe there is no problem, just that this is the reason.
