Sirius/XM replacement receiver - which one?
Hello all,
I am the proud owner of a 2005 A8L and have been for many years now -- bought it with 65k and have over 130k now. Had some insights from some members on another thread, but would appreciate if anyone else has any insight to my satellite radio issue. My Sirius receiver, which has the lifetime subscription from the original owner, has gone on the blink, working in some areas, but mostly not working (I live near Winnipeg, MB) -- constantly shows "Linking". I'm looking to replace the receiver (part# 4E0 035 593B) with either an updated Sirius Receiver (4E0 035 593F) or an XM receiver (4E0 035 593A). Note: I understand I'll need to get new service with Sirius so no issues there. I have two antenna plugs (one for satellite, the other terrestrial -- if I said that right). My question is whether the Sirius Receiver, which has only one plug, will work in my car (assume I can just leave the terrestrial antenna unplugged?)? If not, will the XM module work (it has both plugs)? Is there anything else I need to do other than replace the old with the new and update my Sirius account? I've seen some threads talk about the MMI needing to be updated, but I'm hoping this is a straight-forward swap. Sorry for the long note, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I bought a replacement Sirius radio to replace my failing XM. All I did was to plug it in and it worked. I decided to run the MMI update disks and it updated the firmware on the Sirius radio. All is good. If you don't update the firmware, the radio should still work. It will just have a bug or two that may or may not rear it's ugly head.
I got the radio for $40 from replacementradios.com

Yes I have two antenna cables. The second antenna is for the now defunct terrestrial service. Just leave it dangle in there.. Fakra connectors are keyed so that it is impossible to plug in the wrong one. PM sent
