Remote Start install
Have an 06 A8 and looking into a remote start, have been told by a specialty car toys type shop that it can be done and instead of an extra remote it can be intergrated with factory remote, (hit the lock button twice and can starts) but am worried about potential problems. Has anyone had this done with an A8 and with what kind of success? Thanks...Flats

I'm looking to do the VIPER SmartStart, but for the life of me i cant seem to find anyone having it installed on a Audi A8 just to be sure theyre arent any issues.. BUT they are a ton of BMW an Mercedes having it so i should be ok.
Have you looked into that system? The Key buttons still function normally.

I was looking into this last year and gave up. I couldnt find anybody that would do it. I went to a high end audio place that did great work and they never done it and didnt have info on so they didnt try it.

That said, ask yourself why Audi does not offer remote starting from the factory.

I believe it is a much more complicated process than it is worth. If you have the keyless entry (the one where you only need the key in your pocket to get in the car), and pushbutton this will create many problems. I don't know the specifics but I know for sure it is very problematic if possible at all.
Best solution: Don't be lazy and just turn the car on when you get to it!

MY FRIEND AT CAR TOYS IN COLORADO WHO HAS INSTALLED SEVERAL REMOTE STARTERS IN PREVIOUS CARS OF MINE....CALLED THE MANUFACTURE....THEY DID NOT RECOMENED THE AUTO START IN MY A-8....I WISH IT WOULD WORK...ONCE YOU HAVE A REMOTE START...YOU HATE NOT TO HAVE ONE.

To make this work with the smart key, everything I found suggest you have to give up one of your keys.
