The S8 beats the MB S63 AMG and Maserati in "AUTOMOBILE" magazine this month.
A good write up in March "AUTOMOBILE" magazine called "Sport Sedans Supreme" The Audi S8 is picked the best car over MB AMG S63 and Maserati Quattroporte. Also.. they printed my letter bitching about why the RS4 wasnt included in the top 2007 All-Stars list.

Interesting..I looked at MB-USA.com site and it only lists an S65
at $180,000+. After your post I checked MB.de and it has both S63 and S65. Then I checked mb.uk and it has only S65. The AMG 63 engine is the new one though and i guess that will be replacing the 65 everywhere eventually. I still love the S8 in comparison. I haven't really gotten into the new "S class" look at MB.

Differences in S65 and S63
The S65 uses a twin turbo V12 engine with over 600 HP and over 700 ft-lbs torque.
The S63 uses a normally aspirated V8 engine with 503 HP and over 480 ft-lbs torque. The 6.3 (really a 6.2 liter) engine is hand build by AMG for Mercedes. This engine is used in all their model types from the C63 to the M63. As far as I know, the only 2 cars right now with the 6.5 engine are the CL and the S class. With rumors of that engine making it to the CLS class in the next year or 2.
The S65, with options is close to 200k.
