Default Sub installed

I had an Alpine 12" Type R sub in an acoustic suspension box with an Alpine mono amp in my D2. I thought it really enhanced the sound. Although my D3 with MMI had quite a bit more bass than my D2, I went a head and transferred the sub and amp to the D3.

For the install for the D3, i had to get the following items:
LC2i audio control line level out
ACR-1 remote bass ****
Orion 8 GA Amp wiring kit
Stinger 4000 Wire 6ft and speaker wire.

Had it professionally installed at Sound Sensations here in ATL. I'm to old and crippled to wrench anymore. Also removed the ski boot and using the opening as a port, and a gateway to hide things in the trunk from the rear seat.

The sound is not overly different, but it's there. The bass has punch and depth, and not just boominess like the stock sub. The biggest thing I like is the bass ****. You can turn the bass up or down with the **** without going into the MMI. I got so used to having one in the D2. As your music changes, let's say you were listening to an 80's song and then go to hip hop, both require two different levels of bass to sound good. Here are some pics

On a side note, sold my D2 this evening. It was kind of a sad moment, since I drove the D2 for almost ten years. Then I realize I have a D3 W12 and no more sorrow. I also installed a 2008/2009 NAV disc. I found an unopened on on ebay for $65 so I will see if I can get used to using the MMI NAV.

Nice!

If you can, post pictures of the ski sack you took out...this is one thing I would like to add to my car. I actually have the sack part, but with a grey interior.....but I don't think I have the other parts that are necessary.

If you want to sell those parts, if it fits what I need, I'll buy them.

A sub is suppose to be mellow, until you turn it up! But no rattling the trunk please...

Hey Paul, I will do that. From what the installer told me, there is really two parts. The bezel that is on the interior side and the sack and bezel assembly on the trunk side and they bolt together.

I will be in Athens GA for a UGA football game tomorrow but will take pics for you on Sunday. I am using the bezel on the interior side for aesthetics but nothing on the trunk side. If you need any of those pieces, you are welcome to them.

Yes, no thumping. In my opinion, it just adds some punch like a real sub should. You can check it out the next time you are down here.

Default Here you go Paul

It looks like the ski sack comes in two pieces, the bezel on the interior side and the whole assembly on the trunk side and they just snap together. The pictures are of the ski sack assembly. You will need to find the interior bezel because I am using that piece. Let me know if you can't find a part number and I will have to take it out and get a part number for you. Let me know if you need anything else.

Page 5 of this PDF shows how the passthru goes together http://audi.bernardiparts.com/images...frigerator.pdf

The bezel is #36 here http://www.audiusaparts.com/parts/20...iagram=1361373

Had to buy one because mine was missing when I got the D3.
As I recall it was about $30 and only available in black - can't find the part number though.

Default Nice **** man!

Hey, good idea opening up the "port" to the trunk!
Not like I think I am the first to think of it, just 'cause we chatted about it in your other thread.

Coincidentally, I used my ski sack today for the first time, for my daughter's 6' long karate bo-staff (is this where "Little Bo Peep's" name came from)?

BTW, I found a video of your GF enjoying the bass: http://youtu.be/-Yp_RPPan3Y
