Unsolved Mysteries - Dash Rattle
bought a cpo '04 A8L in december and have had an annoying rattle or vibration in center of dash since beginning. its pretty subtle and generally only hear it on rough roads but it's driving me crazy. have taken it to dealer SIX times to figure out the problem. they have practically taken entire dash apart and said they found a loose screw and bracket, and have installed cushioned tape all over, but nothing works. if anyone has dealt with this problem, i'd really appreciate some insights.
..also, car suffers from same intermittent starting problems that seem to be pretty common on this forum. seems like there might be a TSB for the problem. if anyone has it, please send along.

I had a rattle in the center of my dash which ended up being from the aluminum trim below the mmi screen. It stopped when I put my hand on it. The dealer reseated the trim and I haven't had any problems since.
Does yours stop if you push on anything?
I've got the intermittent starting problem, but haven't heard of a TSB on it. I guess we're supposed to wait until the starter fails.

No - they were just able to stop the rattle somehow without changing anything. Mine is rattling again, but I have traced it to the MMI screen as discussed in a few posts above. If the screen is closed, no rattle, open, sometimes it rattles, sometimes it doesn't.
