Maybe the low-beams are blown....after-all they are used the nmost......I'm probably wrong, so don't consider such a possibility! I'm dumb!

Default Headlight switch on steering column is bad...

It's a common problem. I just replaced mine. Symptoms: no low/high beams, parking lights work, pull turn stalk for high beam flash works. Have to replace the whole turn/headlight switch assembly. I removed my switch assembly, disassembled, cleaned it with electronics cleaner, reassembled and reinstalled. The headlight switch worked for another week and then failed again with the same symptoms.

I do not recommend replacing with a junk yard switch or cleaning the existing switch. I do recommend buying a new switch assembly online (about $130). For example <a href="http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=gvgoqo55cuxgf0fyporofg2o&makeid=8 00002@Audi&modelid=1008863@A6%20QUATTRO%20%20&year =1997&cid=18@Electrical%20%26%20Vacuum&gid=4832@Tu rn%20Signal%20Switch">PN 4D0-953-513C here</a> for a 97 A6.

You'll have to remove the airbag &amp; steering wheel to get at the switch. Check out the <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/31818.phtml">100/A6 FAQ</a> for the procedure.

Default I just fixed this exact problem and it only cost me $7 bucks.

The $7 was for a 24mm socket that I did not already own.

I did line up a new headlight switch in case I was not able to effect a repair, but in the end, it was not neccesary.

See link for my writeup.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/245792.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/245792.phtml</a</li></ul>
