AC Dead Again HELP!!!!
I'm at my wits end with this fuc*ing ac system, last season it was the compressor, and it still didnt hold its charge, i have charged the system about 5 times in 2 years i know thats a problem, my mechanic has used dyes and spent a lot time trying to a trace a leak and we cannot find a thing, could i be looking at the evaporator or are one of u guys a miracle worker??????

Get on ebay and buy a freon sniffer. They're cheap and the only way to go.
Flourescent dye is neat and everything, but if you can't get an eyeball on it, it's worthless.
Get an oldschool sniffer that does both R12 and R134a, and then you can run the wand all over the place and you'll find the leak(s). The one in the ebay link below is what I've always used. Super sensitive and one it freaks out and finds a leak, you can turn it off and back on quickly to make it less sensative and really help you pinpoint the exact location.
Yes, you could have an evaporator that's leaking. Pretty easy to test for it....sniff the vents in the car with a sniffer, and put it in recirc mode, or open the recirc flap by hand and sniff up in there with the system off.
