Coolant reservoir plug missing?

I've had a water leak for a while. Have traced it to the coolant reservoir. When you look under the reservoir there is like a cavity and thats where ther water is leaking from. Feels like there should be a rubber stopper there are something. Outlet pipe and sensor are there so what is that used for?

I've added a pic of where the leak is. Can it leak from there? It seems like it corresponds to where the top white bit clips on. What is the white solid bit on the top for anyway?

No plug belongs there...

The hole is just part of the plastic molding. It's likely that the plastic has split. I've had similar leaks in other places. Time to get a new reservoir.
