Default Engine cover on the bottom

On the bottom of engine, there is a cover. To change anti-freeze, I take it off and I was wondering I need to put it back? The bottom engine cover is important or necessary? Thanks

Search the old and new A6 forums. The subject comes up on occasion. The Search tool is very helpful.

Default Sure you can ask if tired but think of this. You have 9 posts on the board, I have over 4000.

I know a lot of the things you are asking have been covered before. People get tired of answering the same questions over and over again. You won't get answers to some questions unless someone is feeling really gratious or the right person that knows the answer is around to post the answer. Getting to know the search engine better will help you build up your Audi vocabulary and get better results from the search engine too.

I was able to find a thread on your question in three minutes. That's less time than it took for me to write up this response, think about it, learn the search engine, get a Bentley manual if you are going to work on your car.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/12106.phtml</a

Default Many leave it off for a while. Others consider it essential

My mechanic went berserk when he looked into my engine and the splash shield was missing. When I told him I just took it off to do a little service, he thought that was OK, "BUT PUT IT BACK ON AND DON'T LOSE IT" He said.

Geez... "I have more posts than you do" nya nya nya? Sounded that way.

No wonder I like the traditional old Audifans mail lists so much.

A clean engine will perform better and also a clean engine compartment is easier to work on than a dirty one. It just seems the less dirty it is the less chance there will be to have corroded items/wires from dirt.

Thank you for finding the site, but I will say I cannot find what I wanted to know. (Sorry) That's why I asked but I think the way I ask the question is not precise.
Anyway, could you stop advertising Bently maunal? Once is enough and I am curious why you want to have an air of importance so much.
