Default Ignition Switch Replacement problems

Thanks to all who've posted the instruction in the past, I've been able to get to, and remove my old switch without any trouble.
Problem now is getting the new one back in. It isn't sliding in. I've tried jiggling the key slightly in case the plastic piece from the tumbler mechanism that fits into the new switch is hanging up, but it appears that something else is preventing the new switch from sliding all the way in. Any ideas? My fingers are raw from trying to push the thing in from the spade connections on the back of the damn switch!

Default Ensure that the new switch is rotated fully counterclockwise (off position) before inserting....

Also, ensure that the two screws are backed out sufficiently to allow the new one to insert. To save your fingers, grasp the new switch by the outer case to insert it (it doesn't require that much force to install).

When I changed my switch, I had a similar experience; I even thought that the new swicth had a different outer case the the old switch. But I was not aligning the switch correctly in my case. When I aligned correctly, the new switch slid right in, no problem.

Default Got it!

Just had to fiddle with it a bit more, I guess. Took me all of a half an hour to get to and remove the switch and put everything back together, it's just that hour and a quarter of screwing with the new switch that got me!
Now, to wait for dark and see if I broke any more dash lights!

Default Know what you mean re: breaking more dash lights. After I changed the switch, the bulbs in the...

gear selector and the outside temp gauge went out. So, I got to remove the IC again and fix those gauges. At least I'm becoming very experienced at removing the IC to gain access to all of the inner dash works!
