Interior Lights problem

Having a recent problem with my 95 A6Q Avant. Footwell lights are on all the time (they mysteriously turn off when the car has been off for a while.) I can't get the front overhead light to turn off when I lock the doors with the remote (same with footwell lights.) I have been switching it off manually. Now I can't remember which of the 3 positions it's supposed to be in to automatically go on and off when the door opens. Any thoughts

I was told it was door switches that had gone bad. So I bought some used ones from Shokan and they still don't work. If you find out the answer let me know. I eventually just took out the bulbs in the footwells and said F it I don't have interior lights unless you turn the switch on. The center postion is the correct position if everything were working.

The switch is all the way forward I think for door-activated int. lights.

I don't know if your Bentley has wiring diagrams, but if it does, trace it. I would suspect either the door switches (the little rubber-booted thing chasis-side of the doorjam. Also, not your case if you replaced with good switches). Another suspect would be a supposed relay in the fuse box in the engine compartment, behind the firewall.

I think my passenger side footwell light has been on when I drive, but that's 'cause my glove box is on the floor in the back seat right now. And also, to be honest, one time when my interior lights were acting funny, I messed with my sunroof and the problem went away! It was weird. Check all your electrical connections
