Looking for some pointers
Plan on changing ATF along with filter tomorrow and the Bently made the job look pretty straight forward (95 A6 Auto/FWD). I am looking for any pointers that the bently doesn't tell you such as tools needed that I don't have or snags I may experience.
A couple of questions I have:
1. What has everyone used to measure the temp of the fluid?
2. Can you run the tranny with ATF but without the filler plug to measure the temp or do you need to check temp, replace plug, remove plug and remeasure?

Bentley manual states to perform level check @ idle, in "P", fluid @ 35 - 40 C, A/C off. Fluid...
temp is normally measured via VAG-1551/1552 or VAG-COM. But you probably could also use a Fluke meter and thermocuple (or similar temp measuring device) to determine fluid temp.

Thanks for the info...I didn't get a chance for the change yesterday, hopefully today. I got the
important leaking final drive seal done friday. The smell of the gear oil itself is awful, nether the less the smell of it on a hot exhaust....whoooo.
