transmission code
I have to replace transmission on my 93 audi 100 quattro.does somebody nows where I can find transmission code,my mechanic told me has to be 3 leters. This is automatic transmission,my overdrive is broken.

Per Bentley Manual, the code letters should be "CEZ" for quattro auto trans. The code letters are..
located on the data plate below the right transmission support. If you have a manual, the code letters should be "CAD".

The code is stamped on a small area that is machined flat on the top edge of the bell housing....
You must find the correct transmission to replace it because it is ESSENTIAL that you get the same ratio diff as is fitted in the rear.
I would only take the actual code off the box itself. Use the chassis ID plate as confirmation.
