Default Worth it?

I just picked up a 94' 100 fwd auto, it has about 125k, and is very clean in/out. It seems to run really well and hasn't leaked a drop in my driveway over the past couple days.

Problem is it looks like it might need a transmission. None of the forward gears will even engage although reverse/park work as they should.

I picked the car up really cheap as a parts car for my S4 but I'm warming up to it as a possible second car (really 3rd after my 89' 90 but whos counting lol)

I would do the trans swap myself but do you guys think its worth putting the $5-600 into it? wwawd?
Also, anyone got a line on a used transmission?

Thanks

Default If that's all the car needs and it's in good shape otherwise, why not? As long as you don't have...

...too much into the car it might be a slightly profitable fix'n'flip if you're doing the work yourself (or a good beat around car).

Default I'd say worth more in parts unless you can fix without replacing the trans.

Have you pulled codes? Done output tests? Tested electrical components?

Default Have not done much diagnosis yet. Couldn't find much on the forums and am kind of lost with...

automatic transmissions. I did get the front up in the air and the wheels do spin when the car is put in D. When the car is on the ground you can't even feel the forward gears engage. The dash indicator works as it should...

Any Ideas? How do you pull codes from the trans?

I've seen alot of 100s being parted for a long time so I'm not so sure I could move the stuff. Also my girlfreind could use a new car giving me more motivation to fix.

Default meh, if you want FWD there are better choices

plenty of other lower-maintenance cars if AWD is not a requirement.

i'd clean it up, fix minor things, and try to resell for profit. if it doesn't sell, part it out.

You need VAG-COM to pull codes and run tests.
