1987 5000 Quattro-non turbo intermittent high ilde: CIS E III...
The engine will warm up fine [run @1000 rpm]
then run normally @ 750 RPM for about 20 minutes.
After around 20 minutes the idle will speed up to 1200/1400 RPM...
I checked the ISV mili-amps and it reads 525 DC mili-amps on the DMM. This is normal.
When the idle is racing @1200/1400 RPM the mili-amp
reading decreases to 160 mili-amps!!
anyone ever have this wacky electrical problem!
ISV is new
idle switch is new
temp sensor is new
MFTS is new
NO vacuum leaks
disconnected the AC control head...no change
disconnected the alternator drove for a half an hour on battery power....no change
This car is driving me crazy!!
Any suggestions please post.
Thanks in Advance....
Next time when this happens try turning the climate control to off.
Today it ran ok for over 50 miles without the idle
going up to 1200/1400..
Then when I came to a stop in my driveway the idle sped up...
I cant figure it out...
