Default Why do I have to have a coolant leak right now??? Where is it coming from? ideas?

I looked under my car and on the passenger side of the block, just to the left of the block itself, dripping off of some wires, is a decent drip of coolant.

I checked the likely places - the hose on the back of the block, the coolant supply / return lines to the turbo... Where is this bastard dripping from?

Can you think of any more coolant hoses or things on that could leak coolant on the passenger side of the car? I'm stumped... and since my driveway is covered in snow and now antifreeze... I can't get a good look under there right away.

Potential culprits anyone?

Default Leak can travel 'sideways'..

As in..
On my 4kq, the heater valve was leaking (driver's side), but it was travelling across the trans bellhousing, and dropping on the ground on the passenger side.

I was sure it was my headgasket or something nasty, as no coolant stuff is on the passenger side.

Glad it was just the valve..!

Default Thats a good point... I'll have to evaluate it when I have time... too bad that I'm pouring 8 dollar

per 1.5 liter antifreeze all over the ground (well, trying to be into a bucket... but still some ground). And I can't fix it!

Have you checked for leaks while the car is running when the cooling system is nice and hot? Maybe it's only leaking when your driving and your getting residual after you turn off the car. I know you said you checked them but make sure the hose's on the heater control valve and the one on the back of the block are tight, they might have come loose enough to leak only when the system is under pressure.

Default Its leaking cold... In fact, it didn't even seem to start leaking until I parked it last night

I came out this morning to a BIG puddle of coolant... its dumped quite a bit... like easily more than a liter or 2.

Its a good leak... heh

I just need to find it tomorrow.

That's a lot. I would say to fill it up again let the car get hot and drive it a little and when you shut off the engine, go under the hood right away and wait, surly you'll see where it's leaking. You'd think that to leak that much coolant it would be a loose hose or maybe you have a pinhole leak in one of the hose's. I had that happen on a different car and it leaked a lot.

Take the T belt cover off and see if your water pump is leaking.

Default I'll check it out tomorrow... hopefully nothing major... I hate lying under cars in the snow...

I would much prefer it to be a small hose leak of some sort.

Heres to crossing fingers.
