Is 91 octane necessary ?

Thanks for the opinions everyone, I will stick with the factory suggestion. I was trying to save a few bucks in my cross country trip, but what I make up in cost per gallon I lose in distance. So either way. Wish me luck, I may be posting questions from my phone on the side of the road. My car has 168k on the odometer, which hasn't worked since I bought it, so who knows exactly how many miles are on it.

I run Sunoco 92 all the time in my coupe 20v and once a month I put 1/2 a tank of 106 octane from my race car and give it the newfie tune-up..for all you Canadians out there you know what I'm talking about. LOL!
