95 audi 90 quattro tranny problem

95 audi 90 quattro tranny problem
well on my way home from work today my tranny popped out of 2nd gear while driving so i tried to stop and get into first no good lost first. still had 3rd 4th 5th and reverse. tried to make it home with 3rd then lost 3rd! so i had to drive 2 1/2 miles back to my shop in REVERSE still got reverse tho. needless to say i need a new transmission.unless some one thinks it could be something stupid but doubt it haha .its been making an awful noise for a few months now.
what i need to no i 2 things
1. there is 2 different manual trannys 'cbr' and 'cvx' need to no where to find out which.
2. how much of a pain is it to change the trans in this beast.

did you check the clutch?
your car had a 01A trany if im not mistaking:
B4 90quattro 1993-94 tranny case 01A- torsen center differential
1st-3.500
2nd-1.842
3rd- 1.226
4th-.943
5th- .816
final-3.89:1

i dont think its the clutch because it goes into all the gears fine.
when i let the clutch up it grinds and pops out of gear even if i hold it there.
on this website car-part.com it gives you 2 choices cbr and cvx code transmissions. not sure if it even matters but theres a huge price difference.

i forget the month it was manufacterd but would it matter which one i get.
whats the differences.
and another question what kind of gear oil do i use and what weight does it have to be audi sythetic.
