Audi 90 Radiator Fan Relay Numbers.
I just realized that when I bought my 95 Audi 90, the high-speed fan relays are misssing. Car drives fine, because at lower temps the fan kicks in. At higher temps I usually go fast
.
Does anybody happen to know part numbers for the relays? I called a few dealers, but their answers are murky. The realays are located in the breaker box. The fan relays are top row. The second and the third relay counting from left. Maybe someone could look it quickly up.
BTW is there any good source for after-market relays? I looked everywhere and no one has cooling fan relays.

Wow a coincidence.
I also own a 95 Audi 90 quattro and Im missing the High speed rad. fan relay and the radiator fan delay.I believe you can just use a multi purpose 40amp one. but that im not quite sure of. I dont feel like paying 120 a piece for relays. I am gonna start looking for audis at jnk yards and grabbing the relays for them. Tho michigan doesnt have many junk yards with Audis in em.Maybe we can find some other 95 owners and see if they have relays or not.

As far as I can tell, ETKA shows that position 10 (3rd from left from your description if I understand it correctly) is a relay for daytime running lights, which our cars don't have. The part # given for the relay is <I>443.951.253.K</I>.

My problem is, that the fans do not spin at high temperatures. One time on a hot summer day during 6000' climb in Yosemite I got the engine going about 3/4 allowable temp and the fans were not spinning when I stopped with the engine running. I thought they were broken, but when engine cooled down, the fans were working fine. That is what started me searching for the relays. Also, when I do get stuck in traffic, it takes no time to go almost half-way the temperature guage. I am always in safe zone, and the temperature goes down once I start going, but it is concerning.
The dealer did not have much clue about it. The guy was asking me for the relay number (the other relays are marked like I-204, Y-208), but it is hard to give him that when the relay is missing. He came up with some fan relay for $52.
I will have to look at wiring diagrams and figure out what the hell is going on.

There should be a relay in #2 for the high speed fan. I just found out after all these years mine was missing as well.
This fan kicks on around the 3nd notch on the temp gauge after the heavy "normal" mark with the low speed at the 2nd mark.
If you are running AC the low speed always runs but if you get to the 2nd mark after the normal mark then high speed kicks on.
Course this also must mean your fan switch in your radiator is working properly too.
Old Part Number 8D0 951 253A
New Part Number 4H0951253A
#3 was omitted for the B4 and should be the only open socket.
