Default Oil Filter exchangebility between V6 and 20V...Mann/Mahle oil filters.

I distinctly remember somebody on this Forum claiming you can use a 2.8 V6 Mann/Mahle oil Filter on a 20V and
vice-versa. True?

Default It looks like its and almost maybe...

030 115 561D for the 20V
078 115 561D for the 2.8

From reading the archives I think using the V6 filter could benefit 20V.

Default AAH or AFC? They have different filters.

A trick I learned from Miktip was to use the bigger AFC filter on my AAH.

The Mahle 7A filter I have sitting here (056 115 561G / OC47) looks a lot like the OE AAH filters.

Default The Mann Filter designation......

...for the W719 filters means that the 719/5 (20v) is rated for 5K kilometers and the 719/30 (2.8) is good for 30k km. So the 719/30 is "better" because it has more filter media stuffed into the same can (and that's why it costs a little more). The bypass pressure and flow ratings are the same so both will "work".

If space on your motor allows, everyone should consider using the W940/25 filter, now Audi/VW recommended for the 1.8T motor (i.e., the SludgeMonster!), but was previously developed for the Audi/VW 4 cyl TDI. Bypass pressure and flow also same as W719.

It's even bigger and very sturdy; costs about $1 (US) more than the W719/30.

I'm currently using the W940/25 on my 88 90q (NG) only because my A/C compressor is out of the car. With it in, the filter won't fit and I have to use the W719/30.

There's a Mahle equivalent to the W940/25 but it costs way more - doesn't seem to be available anywhere at much of a discount.

GermanFilters is THE place for filters!
