Default Update: Stock Exhaust Hanger - Heavy Duty Rubber Exhaust Hanger

I had a heavy duty rubber exhaust hanger break. Been using some clamps to hold it up in the mean time. Just found a good source to buy them from.

This post is just for the archives. Nothing really pulled up under rubber exhaust hanger.

Default Yeah... I would buy the $9 ones...but for a $1 I can risk them breaking again...

especially when I am just about to re-do all of the exhaust.

Nice to see you posting again.

We should throw a SLC 90 get-together.

Default I highly recommend the chain reinforced hangers.

I had a brand new non-chain one break in two hours. Replaced it with a chain one and it's been good for 3+ years.

I actually bought the chain version from Dave Strong. It wasn't much more than online sources, about $12 iirc. I used to buy a lot of parts from them, and had a good relationship with the parts guys - but then I started buying from Worldpac and haven't even visited a dealership in years.

Default No, I buy through their resellers.

Used to be European Automotive out of Albuquerque, but they went under. Current fav is Autohausaz.

I would like to be able pick up my parts at the Worldpac distro center on 3rd east, though. I've wondered if you can order Worldpac parts through the Carquest store in the same building. I doubt it, but I'm going to stop by and find out soon. It would be nice to not have to wait for shipping.

UPDATE: A little googling reveals that Carquest owns Worldpac. I'm getting optimistic.

UPDATE 2: A little audiworld searching reveals posts from DaveInSaltLake (a real nice guy, btw, I consider him a friend) stating that you CAN get Worldpac parts through Carquest. Woohoo! I'm going to get a price from them this week on a CQ heater core and compare to Autohausaz.

Default Just got a set of 4 of those on ebay for $13 shipped!

They are the same as used on a few older vw's.

I've yet to install the reinforced ones yet to check fit, because I still have a collection of the rubber-only ones in the garage (should keep one in the glove box for how randomly they seem to let go...)

Default Quick Carquest versus Autohausaz price comparison: $106 Carquest, $45 Autohausaz.

This is for a CQ heater core. I guess I'll still be ordering from AZ and waiting the two days for shipping.

I'd be down to gtg. My availability is spotty through October, should be better in November. Although I'd likely bring the CQ.
