Also tried the adaptation route, channel 2 to zero, this was on 2 which I`ve not seen before. All other as per ross-tech guides are right.

So here is what I believe finally did the trick. (I say "I believe" because I tried so many different things I can't be 100% certain but I'm maybe 95%
)1. Start the engine (may not need to do this - perhaps just turn on the ignition ? )
2. Pull the reset **** to the right of the trip computer display. The display should now show you the miles/days to your next service, or in my case by how many miles you have exceed your service interval.
3. Release the reset **** and then pull on it again, holding it out until the interval resets. The display should now read something like service in --- miles/--- days.
4. Restart the car and the service warning should be gone. To double-check you can again pull briefly on the reset **** to show the remaining miles/days to service. It should be reset to 10000 miles/365 days assuming your service department correctly reset the interval at your 5k service. Mine did not and I had it done via vag-com.
I hope this helps and please respond to let us all know if it worked for your A3 also.
